![]() ![]() Now Cubeb replaces PortAudio as its successor and keep Xaudio2 as a back-up. DirectSound was being a buggy mess to maintain, WaveOut wasn't much better, PortAudio was fine and Xaudio2 was de facto standard on the Windows side. The current stable (1.6 as of writing) had multiple back-ends namely Xaudio2, DirectSound, PortAudio, WaveOut. There are also a ton of pictures in this edition of the progress report and I'm sure that quite a few of you readers are waiting on the new look of the Qt GUI, but that will still take a while to see in fruition to the public. So all around we will improve all aspects of the emulator and have better progress reports that cater to the technical, light-hearted or the changelog oriented people. In case you didn't notice we have a new site that brings PCSX2 from 2002 to 2022 as PCSX2 is reborn, and besides, seeing that amazing animation on the homepage is something that you have to decide for yourself on how you feel about it. Ok, moving on to better news is the the fantastic work from everybody involved in making sure that PCSX2 doesn't cave into a lesser program. Finally go mad at how inefficient the process was that 80% of the time was spent on making sure that all the Pull Requests are listed and pointed correctly instead of actual writing.Having multiple middlemen to check, update and publish on preview site.Needing it to be HTML without a working preview.Publish on private forum thread who has access. Some of those reasons being the process of making the progress reports: Sorry for the delay but there have been several reasons to this almost half year delay. ![]() Yes, my dear readers (or glancers) Q1 2022 should've been published 2 months ago and this is the predecessor to that. So I think I'll wait for the MGS HD collection to play it on PS3.Looks at the date and notices something. I can post some screenshots later if you need.īut all these efforts are going to waste because the game looks not so good in hardware mode while software mode is not playable. There are slight slow-downs when it shows scenes with a lot of post-processing effects. ![]() These settings make the game run at full speed, 50 fps most of the time. I tried all other speedhacks and game corrections but they don't make the game run faster. ![]() I tried different interpolation, reverb and sync settings but they don't give any noticeable speedup.Īll default except for 1 enabled speedhack: VU cycle stealing set to 2. It looks MUCH better in software mode (even in native resolution) but runs very slow and is not playable. Resolution: 1920x1440, texture filtering enabled. The game looks bad in native resolution (so does without texture filtering) and hi-res doesn't affect performance much. I don't see any difference between DX9 and DX11 so I set DX11. I tried different gsdx and emulation settings and found a combination which makes the game playable on my system. I found this thread when looking for best PSX2 settings to play MGS3. I think I'll give myself a preview of how the PS3 version is going to look now Thanks.īut i wouldn't know how it looks like, since i can't play the game either way.īut can you explain what does that "famous" F9 button do., are those some additional effects or what., i know 1 thing it slows my game a lot.Īnd can you post the address of that MTVU hack, what did you do i don't understand (I just now redumped my copy of MGS3 and with the new MTVU hack,)? you dumped the original dvd or? There are definitely scenes where the FPS drops, but it's actually pretty rare. I'm now playing around in the forest scenes without issue on a Phenom II, 4 core at 3.1ghz and an ati 5770. Team that with SPU async though and the game appears to play very smoothly including the cutscenes. I can actually play the game without EE cycle or VU stealing turned on at all, though there are FPS dips. (edit) Just a heads up, I just now redumped my copy of MGS3 and with the new MTVU hack, it's a lot more enjoyable. Vulfi: Metal Gear Solid 3 is being rereleased on the PS3 and X-box 360 by the end of the year in HD with upgrading textures and the works. ![]()
